1. Welding process of the laser welding machine

Laser welding machine uses a highly concentrated beam at a very small spot, so the area under the laser beam absorbs the light and becomes very energetic. When a powerful laser beam is used, the electrons in this area are excited to the point where the material melts, which is the result of atoms breaking chemical bonds with each other.

Laser welding can also be used to connect plastics.

The melting of these two materials at the seam fuses them into a joint. Surprisingly, the power of light can turn metal into metal within a few milliseconds. In order to achieve such a powerful laser beam, the laser welding machine uses several parts to guide and amplify the laser.

2. Conduction mode welding for laser welding machine

In this process, the metal surface is heated above the melting point of the metal, but it does not evaporate. This process is used for welds that do not require high welding strength.

The advantage of heat conduction welding is that the final weld will be very smooth and beautiful. Heat conduction welding uses low power laser less than 500W.

At low energy levels, a wide and shallow nugget is formed. There are two modes:

Direct heating:

The heat flow is controlled by classical heat conduction from the surface heat source. Welding is made of molten base material. Can be manufactured with pulsed ruby and carbon dioxide lasers of various alloys and metals. Nd: YAD and diode lasers can also be used.

Energy transfer:

Energy is absorbed through new interface absorption methods. The absorbed ink is placed on the interface of the lap joint. This ink absorbs the energy of the laser beam, and the energy of the laser beam is introduced into the surrounding material with a limited thickness to form a molten interface film and solidify into a welded joint. Butt welding can be performed by passing energy at a certain angle through the material on the side of the connecting wire. If the transmittance of the material is high, the butt welding can be performed from one end.

Conduction / penetration welding occurs at moderate energy density and leads to more penetration.

Keyhole mode welding produces deep and narrow welds. In this type of welding, the laser forms a vaporized material filament called a "keyhole", which extends into the material and provides a conduit for the laser to efficiently transmit into the material.

Energy transfer directly into the material does not rely on conduction to achieve penetration, so it minimizes heat entering the material and reduces the heat affected zone


3. Penetration mode welding for laser welding machine

In this process, the laser beam heats the metal, causing its contact surface to evaporate and penetrate deep inside the metal. This creates a keyhole, and when the temperature rises well above 10,000 degrees Celsius, a plasma-like state is created.

This process requires a high-power laser with a power exceeding 105 W / mm2.
