1.Power and speed parameters

The power and speed laser parameters are the most important settings in the whole setting process. They can be set as percentages between 0 and 100%. The power laser parameter describes the output power of the laser. 100% is the maximum power. For dark wood prints or seal prints, high power is usually required, while for materials such as paper, lower values are used. The speed laser parameters describe the movement of the laser head. A fast speed results in a shorter exposure time, and a slow speed results in a longer exposure time. For example, large-scale engraving of materials is high-speed engraving between 80% and 100%, but for photographic engraving with many details on wood, the speed should not exceed 10%. This setting also affects the quality of laser cutting done by the fiber laser engraving machine.


2.PPI and Hz parameters

The PPI parameter (= pulses per inch) determines how many laser pulses are engraved per inch. To get good results, this value should be the same as the dpi selected in the print settings or a multiple of dpi. If this parameter is set to "Auto", the controller will automatically determine the best resolution of the laser pulse. During the cutting process, the "frequency" parameter is decisive and is given in Hz (= Hertz). It specifies the number of laser pulses per second. For CO2 lasers, the value can be set in the range of 1,000 to 60,000 Hz. For example, if you want to get a smooth edge when cutting acrylic resin, you need a higher temperature, so the value should be set to at least 5,000 to 20,000 Hz. On the other hand, when cutting wood, to obtain, for example, the brightest cutting edge, a low frequency of 1000 Hz must be used.

3.Pass parameters

The "pass" parameter determines the number of engraving or cutting passes. For example, for certain materials, it may be advantageous to engrave at lower power and higher speed, and then repeat this process multiple times. This means that the pressure for each pass of the material is lower. For example, this method is suitable for relief carving.

4.Air auxiliary parameters

During laser engraving and laser cutting, the supply of compressed air can significantly affect and improve the results. In addition, Air Assist can protect the lens from damage because it prevents dust from adhering to the lens in the first place. However, in some applications, the air assist system is deliberately turned off. For example, when engraving TroLase engraving materials, you can get more attractive engraving results without air assistance. 5.Z offset parameter

The z-offset indicates the focus setting. If you set z-offset to zero, it works "in focus", which means that the focus is exactly on the surface of the material. However, intentional defocusing is also required in some applications. For example, when engraving a large area on the workpieces, I recommend defocusing the focal length by 2mm to obtain a consistent engraving effect. The following z-offset values are possible: the minimum is -5 mm, and the maximum is 127 mm.
